IQ--3rd generation The IQ binding system is the first ever ski binding concept to produce a harmonious ski and binding unit. The binding interface is actually part of the ski construction. This offers skiers the advantages of reduced weight, direct power transfer, free flex and even edge pressure. For the first time ever, the revolutionary IQ binding system is available in all models of Blizzard’s 07/08 collection. IQ Binding System – Innovation in the ski marketThe really unique feature about this system is that the binding interface is not screwed or glued onto the ski, but is actually part of the ski construction. The need for mechanical linking parts and other interfaces has become totally redundant. This offers skiers the advantages of a significant reduction in weight, a level of direct power transfer never before achieved, and optimum edge pressure which allows control movements to be directly transferred to the edge when skiing. The IQ technology also comes with the guarantee of the long sought-after ‘round’ flex line of the ski while fully retaining the natural dynamics of the ski. The undesirable ‘flat spots’ have also been fully eliminated, guaranteeing superb carving characteristics. The revolutionary IQ binding system also sets new standards in safety and offers a high level of protection in any kind of fall. The concept ensures that the attachment is secure and has zero clearance at all times and keeps release forces constant. Intelligent components also prevent accidental release, an invaluable bonus for all skiers. Last but not least, the IQ binding system is particularly easy to install. The binding is simply slid on and fixed in place. The cumbersome tasks of drilling holes and fitting screws are eliminated. Revolution in the Freeride sector – the IQ System meets our Freeride touring binding. Blizzard presents a brand new innovation for modern freeriders who value maximum performance on the slopes but still want the comfort of a walking binding.This innovation opens up a whole new world for freeriders who need no longer to miss out on the stability and control of a stable alpine binding and can now master any ascent or descent with comfort and confidence. The wood core and sidewall construction satisfy the stringent performance demands of freeriders. Total stability and a free binding flex on the ski are no longer incompatible - in fact, this innovation makes Blizzard the first ski manufacturer to combine them perfectly. The IQ FR 16 binding slides onto the IQ rails and is fixed with a single screw. This offers the freerider two specific benefits. First, the binding doesn’t make the ski more rigid, and secondly it offers the ideal flex and a constant flex line with maximum control. The binding interface is integrated in the body of the ski and is positioned below the top surface of the ski. This allows the foot to sit very low in the ski. Freeriders can now achieve a new performance level in soft snow, as well as providing control during fast turns. IQ Sandwich Compound – optimising the structure of the whole ski The new Blizzard IQ Sandwich Compound Construction utilizes a 3D IQ structure for advanced power transmission. Energy is transfered directly to the edges for maximum control and carving performance. The IQ binding rails are fully integrated into the ski body allowing for lighter weight and easy binding installation. NEW: Quadrax fabric – four-way fibre structures The models based on the sandwich compound constructions in the 07/08 Blizzard collections have been dramatically revamped. A special fiberglass prepreg is used in which the fibrous structures run in four different directions (hence the name Quadrax). These fibre structures are aligned lengthwise at angles of 0°, +45°, -45° and 90°, creating an optimum flex-torsion ratio resulting in higher skiing performance. |
