Tecnica & Blizzard will miss Arne Backstrom - 6/8/2010
"His quiet approach. His sly/unassuming smile. His zest to fill his days with adventure. His modesty. "He was one of the
best people I've ever known. I know I haven't
been alone in thinking "I want to learn to ski like Arne". I also want
to learn to live like Arne did.
Arne was a
constant inspiration to everybody and he was my hero.
We
all miss you and love you Arne, I hope there are endless powder days

I sat in my garage for a long time today taking-in where we spent our last minutes together getting some gear dialed before his trip and I thought about all of you as well and how much this group of people means to me. skier, strong, confident,
and comfortable, no matter what the terrain or situation, but what I
appreciated even more than his skiing talent was his creativity. Arne
was a thinker. Every so often I would get a call from him that would go
something like this, "Hey Jed, I've been thinking a little bit about my
skis (or boots) and... well... I started messing around in the garage
and... I think a have a good idea, please give me a call." Sure enough,
time and time again, he would have a great idea.
Arne,
if you are reading this, I want you to know that you have given us all a
tremendous amount of inspiration. We will work hard to live up to your
standards and keep building skis and boots that you would be proud to
ski on."

The Tecnica/Blizzard
team is sorely missing one of our athletes. Arne
Backstrom, 29, passed away Thursday, June 3rd in a fall during a
freeskiing mission in Peru.
